Creating a wild and expressive sound, Opaz is an ensemble that plays music in the Romani (Gypsy) style from Turkey and other parts of the North-Eastern Mediterranean. Drawing from the colourful hotchpotch of music that constitutes the Roma tradition, the band strives to capture the nomadic soul and creative power that lies within the emotive melodies and driving rhythms. Always providing an entertaining show, this ensemble plays spirited music in celebration of life.
Opaz has played in many venues across London including the Inspiral Lounge, Camden (where we were honoured to be joined on stage by klarnet master Selim Sesler after his BBC show); the Arcola theatre, Dalston; and Limehouse's legendary Jamboree.
